Welcome to the King County Corrections Guild Website.
The King County Corrections Guild was formally
established during the Summer of 1996. We exist to act as
the collective bargaining representative for all Corrections
Officers and Sergeants of the King
County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention. We
advocate for our members and the people of King County,
Washington.

Today,
King County’s jails are understaffed and overstressed.
·
Corrections Officers are routinely forced to work double
shifts.
·
Hundreds of prisoners are bussed between rented cells in
Yakima and courtrooms in King County.
·
Hundreds more are on work release and other community programs.
·
Seattle and other cities are being forced to consider building
their own jails because planned expansions to the county
system were cancelled, leaving the county without enough
jail beds to meet the region’s needs.
And
now the County Executive and County Council are considering
making more deep budget cuts to our jails and other criminal
justice programs.
Criminal
justice is King County’s number one responsibility. The
Executive and Council can’t endanger public safety with
these massive cuts, and the County needs to take the lead
in expanding jail capacity for the region.
